Rhubarb Recovery – Training Opportunities!

Rhubarb Farm is a horticultural social enterprise. The farm's aims are to support people to change their lives for the better, and help them to develop confidence, resilience, new skills, and knowledge.

The farm can provide employment, work placements, training and support volunteering opportunities for people with long-term needs - unemployed, ex-offenders, NEETS (young people not in education or training), recovering drug and alcohol misusers, ex-servicepeople with PTSD, older people who want to stay fit and engaged, people who have physical or mental ill health, or learning disability.

Our volunteers come from the Mansfield, Bassetlaw, Chesterfield, and Bolsover areas. Everyone who comes to the Farm is called a volunteer, to acknowledge their value and the economic contribution they make, no matter what their needs or abilities. About 60 volunteers a week come to the Farm.

Training includes: Horticulture and a 'Get into Gardening' course ran by ATTFE college, Rhubarb's own 6 week Animal Discoveries Course and the ASDAN Animal Care Short Course. As well as many courses focusing on Personal Development, including cooking classes using fresh farm produce, Air fryer courses (volunteers can keep the air fryer) and Soup & stew making, a new Forest School for adults, soft skill maths and ASDAN Expressive arts, History and Arts and Craft workshops!

There are a variety of awareness sessions covering subjects such as Domestic Violence, Drug and Alcohol Awareness, and Gambling Awareness

Rhubarb Farm are a registered ASDAN Centre and Farm can offer Derbyshire County Councils Accredited Volunteer Passport.

In August there will be a Cooking with Fresh Produce course, and September brings Creative Writing Taster, Loan Shark Awareness, Budgeting, Oral Hygiene and Working in your Community courses, followed shortly by Halloween Crafts. Please note - you must be a registered and active volunteer at Rhubarb Farm to access these courses.

If you are in recovery:
Volunteers on our 12-week Rhubarb Recovery programme have access to a micro-job at the farm to build confidence, where we can help you write a CV, attend a mock interview, and add structure to your routine.
